Calendar Description:
Technical sketching. Orthographic projections. Multiviews, auxiliary views and section views. Dimensions and tolerances. Working drawings. Design applications. Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software is used for 3-D modelling and 2-D drawing.
Learning Outcomes:
At the end of this course, you will be able to:
1. Draw simple technical sketches;
2. Develop 2-D and 3-D models using SOLIDWORKS;
3. Develop multiple-views of 3-D objects based on orthographic projection;
4. Develop section views and auxiliary views of 3-D objects;
5. Understand fundamental manufacturing processes and describe the relevant information in technical drawings;
6. Define dimensions and tolerances based on design and manufacturing requirements;
7. Model typical mechanical components such as threads, fasteners, springs and gears;
8. Develop working drawings with assemblies and bill of materials; and
9. Solve engineering design problems using SOLIDWORKS.
