Learning Outcomes:
At the end of this course, you will be able to:
1. Select hardware and software systems with the required functions for computer aided design, computer aided manufacturing, and computer aided engineering (CAD/CAM/CAE);
2. Model geometric information of mechanical products, including 3-D parts, assemblies, and 2-D drawings;
3. Develop customized CAD systems with additional design functions;
4. Model complex shapes including freeform curves and freeform surfaces;
5. Identify manufacturing processes from product geometry through computer-aided process planning;
6. Implement CNC programs for milling and turning machining operations;
7. Create geometry of the product from a CAD model through rapid prototyping;
8. Evaluate product design through finite element analysis and motion analysis;
9. Identify design parameter values through optimization; and
10. Improve design and manufacturing through virtual engineering.
