Geometric modelling, transformation and visualization. Modelling of freeform curves and surfaces. Programming<br>for computer numerically controlled (CNC) machining. Integration of CAD\/CAM systems, Applications in motion analysis, structure analysis, optimization, rapid prototyping, reverse engineering and virtual<br>engineering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Learning Outcomes:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the end of this course, you will be able to:<br>1. Select appropriate hardware and software systems with the required functions for computer aided design and manufacturing (CAD\/CAM);<br>2. Model geometric information of mechanical products, including 3-D parts, assemblies, and 2-D drawings, using CAD systems;<br>3. Enhance effectiveness of geometric modeling through transformation and visualization functions of CAD systems;<br>4. Model complex shapes including freeform curves and freeform surfaces;<br>5. Select computer numerically controlled (CNC) machines with the required functions for machining the designed parts;<br>6. Implement CNC programs for milling and turning machining operations;<br>7. Create computer aided manufacturing (CAM) models and generate the machining codes automatically using CAM systems;<br>8. Integrate CAD systems and CAM systems by using the CAD systems for modeling design information and converting the CAD models into CAM models for describing manufacturing information; and<br>9.
