Dear Applicants,
Late this afternoon we sent out the interview invites and regrets. We would like to thank all our reviewers for their monumental effort. We also should acknowledge the wisdom and hard work of our Admissions Committee allowing us to reach this milestone in the cycle. As an Admissions office it’s always nice to celebrate this point as we feel like we are rounding the turn into the final stretch. Personally, in only my second year, I still have mixed feelings on this day as I know that for many applicants they did not receive the letter they either expected or wanted. In a year where we have all struggled this is particularly more difficult.
For all those who have been invited to an interview, congratulations. It is an accomplishment unto itself to reach this point. We look forward to learning more about you.
For those of you who were not offered an interview, please keep your head high, in particular if you are a first time applicant. Try to learn from your first application process. These letters should never define who you are or who you will become. Having the courage and self-belief to throw yourself into this type of competition speaks volumes. Often just reflecting on the top ten entries and strengthening the way they are written makes a difference in year two or three of the application. is The clustering of applicants this year was even more pronounced than other years. For example the cut-off score for IP was 102.92. There were 80 applicants between 103.92 and 102.92 and 80 applicants between between 102.92 and 101.92
There were only 11 individuals from COHORT 2 that did not rank out and were guaranteed an interview
