Re: Offers/Waitlist/Regrets UPDATE

Dear Applicants,

Good morning. I hope that for many of you, today proves to be the day that you begin a new, exciting, and fulfilling journey in your life. Whether this was your first or fifth time applying to the Cumming School of Medicine this day will be filled with a variety of emotions.

We want to begin by thanking all the applicants for their interest and patience this year. We were so impressed with all the wonderful applications we received and the immense contributions you are all making to better the lives of those around you and society as a whole.

Finally, congratulations to those who will be receiving offer letters!!! Well done and we look forward to meeting many of you in July.

This was another competitive year. For example, the mean GPA for those receiving offers was 3.84 with a mean CARS score of 127.5, a mean raw interview score of 15.83 and a total mean standardized score of 225.45 There was a lot of movement based on interview performance. The different between the first person on the waitlist and the cut-off for being unsuccessful was only 9.4 points.

In 2018-19, year we sent out a total of 276 offers to reach our target number of 139.

A few reminders:


1. If possible, please make a decision as quickly as possible to be fair to those who are on the waitlist.

2. Please pay attention to our deferral policy and the deadline. Deferrals are rarely granted and are at the discretion of the Dean of Admissions.

4. Please do not ask where you sit on the waitlist. We do not disclose that information.

Finally, irrespective of your personal outcome today, remember to support each other. This has been a tremendously challenging time for everyone, and it reminds us of the importance of bonding together as present and future healthcare providers and as a society as a whole.
