Workshop I
The first workshop will take place on January 30th, from 5 pm to 7 pm. In this workshop, participants will learn more about the cultural and historical background of racial issues in Calgary, and Canada, in general. The goal of this workshop is to raise awareness of race and racial issues by introducing and discussing the most relevant concepts related to the topic. The workshop will be facilitated by Iman Bukhari, a founder and the CEO of the Canadian Cultural Mosaic Foundation. The tentative plan of the workshop is below:
- Land acknowledgement
- Brief introduction
- Important terms to understand
- What past and present race issues in Canada look like
- News activity about recent racism with discussions about creating social change
- Question and Answer period
