Michael Shomoye

Michael Shomoye is a dedicated M.Sc. student in Computer Science at the University of Calgary, where he merges his passion for teaching with technology. Holding a B.Sc. in Systems Software from Victoria College in Malaysia, he cultivated a keen interest in Artificial Intelligence. As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, he has enriched the educational journey of undergraduates by leading tutorials and developing teaching materials for courses like Data Structures and Algorithms. Michael’s current research delves into the fascinating world of Automated Emotion Recognition in Virtual Reality Classrooms, a pioneering area at the confluence of AI, ML, and Virtual Reality (VR) in educational technology. He also served as a reviewer for the esteemed AAAI Conference on Artificial Intelligence and Interactive Digital Entertainment (AIIDE), USA, in October 2023, showcasing his commitment to advancing the field of Artificial Intelligence. Away from the keyboard, he finds solace in music, often found on another keyboard playing the piano, which reflects his diverse interests and talents.
