Good afternoon applicants,
I hope this message finds you well during what can be an understandably stressful and uncertain time in the application cycle. I am writing to provide a transparent update on where we are in the process and what you can expect over the coming days.
This year, we received well over 2,300 completed applications representing the largest number in the history of our program. As part of our responsibility to applicants and to the integrity of the process, we were required to close a number of applications that did not meet published eligibility thresholds or were missing required documentation. Following this step, the applicant pool at the interview decision stage consisted of:
• Total applicants: 2,154
• Alberta applicants: 1,717
• Non-Alberta applicants: 437
Our file reviewers worked with exceptional diligence and care, and the final rank-order lists were reviewed and approved by the Admissions Committee last week.
For this cycle, we will be inviting the following number of applicants to interview:
• 560 Alberta applicants (including those interviewing for the SAMP pathway)
• 100 Non-Alberta applicants (including those interviewing for the SAMP pathway)
We are now ready to begin sending interview invitations on Monday February 2nd. This likely happen beginning shortly after noon MST as the office staff makes sure that everything is ready from the IT side.
I would encourage you to read the following points carefully, as the timing and sequence of notifications are important to understand:
1. Interview invitations for main campus will be sent first. These are not sent in rank order. Due to system processing, it may take several hours for all invitations to be delivered.
2. SAMP interview invitations will be sent following the initial wave.
-please note that being offered a SAMP interview does not necessarily mean you would have made the cut-off for the main campus interviews-these interviews which will be held only on March 14th are for those who indicated they had a genuine interest in the SAMP program.
3. Interview regret notifications will be sent last. These may take longer for the system to complete across the entire applicant cohort.
We recognize how difficult the waiting period can be and appreciate your patience as the system completes this process. Please be assured that all applications were reviewed carefully and respectfully, and that the timing of an email does not reflect the quality or competitiveness of an application.
Thank you for your continued interest in our program and for the professionalism you have shown throughout this cycle.
With kind regards,
Remo
