A leading edge 3-year MD program at the University of Calgary

Congratulations to all those who have successfully applied!!! Latest updates

Dear applicants,

Please take a moment if you can to take a deep breath and do something you truly enjoy more than completing a medical school application. Submitting an application to medical school is a monumental task requiring hours of preparation, reflection, and often self-sacrifice. Applying to multiple medical schools, all with our unique requirements, quirks, and processes just adds to the work and stress. But you have done it. You have begun the journey. Having the courage to put together an application and toss it into a highly competitive pool is a great accomplishment in itself.

I hope that if you experienced stress during the process that you will have time to relax, congratulate yourself, and re-charge.

So now for some important information:

1. This was a banner year fro submissions, we had a 17% increase and are presently sitting on over 2020 applications (compared to last year 1721). This number will certainly go down as some of these applications will not meet the GPA or MCAT cut-offs. Some will not meet the document submission deadlines. I will update the number of how many we are sending out for review in the next several weeks.

2. For those who were affected by the payment/submission glitch several weeks ago; we will be correcting your status over the next couple of weeks. No need to worry.

3. It will take another 10 days or so, for transcripts to show as being received. Let’s say it all together “Do not contact the admissions office about your transcripts”

4. If you have made a minor error on your application-number of hours, verifiers, contact info, do not worry this won’t affect anything. We will reach out if we require clarification.

5. For those who’s referees missed the deadline. Do not worry. As long as you have two referee forms on file we will send your file out for review.

6. If your MCAT has not been verified, do not worry. We will be downloading the results for applicants who have written in September shortly. However, remember, YOU MUST HAVE RELEASED THEM TO US.

Wishing everyone the best of luck over the cycle. Please stay safe and as future aspiring health care professionals, be part of COVID 19 solution.
